What are Out-of-Network Benefits?

 

If you have insurance other than BCBS, do investigate your insurance plan to learn if your plan includes what are called Out-of-Network benefits.

 

This type of benefit means that your plan will cover a percentage of the therapy visit cost. If your plan does include out-of-network benefits, you may have to first meet a deductible.

 

A deductible is an out-of-pocket fee that must be met before your plan will begin to cover therapy sessions.

 

Calling the behavioral health number on your insurance card to learn about your out-of-network benefits is suggested. You would ask the customer service representative:

 

1) Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health? If the answer is 

    yes, you would then ask,

2) What is the deductible, if any, I need to meet before benefits will 

    begin?
